Musculoskeletal Assessment

P.W. Physiotherapy offer full musculoskeletal assessments, whereby we examine patients with disorders and injuries of the bones and / or muscles. If you are suffering with back pain, for example, an assessment with one of our expert physiotherapists can determine the cause of the problem and help them prescribe certain exercises and lifestyle changes that will help you.

Your assessment is likely to include in-depth questioning on presentation of symptoms, mechanism of injury and past medical history. If you do have any documentation relating to your injury, such as X-rays, scans, operations notes, prescriptions and blood tests, please bring them with you to your appointment. The assessment moves swiftly onto movement analysis, musculoskeletal range, flexibility and strength testing. Then to specific orthopaedic, neurological and functional testing. Your therapist will keep you informed throughout the assessment of what they are finding and how this is directing the examination.

Your physiotherapist will discuss with you the results of the assessment and outline a treatment plan that suits you. If they feel you would be better receiving other medical treatment not available through our clinic, they will advise you on the best course of action to take. We want you to be as comfortable, pain-free and mobile as possible, and all of our recommendations will be geared towards achieving this.
